Issue Position: Infrastructure & Local Government Funding

Issue Position

Eastern Ohioans live, work and play in small rural communities. Since 2011, the state has continued to cut funding to local governments. This includes counties, municipalities, and townships. These cuts make daily life harder for all of us. Necessary water and sewer improvements go undone, vehicles suffer wear and tear on poorly maintained roads, communities shut down recreation programs. State government continues to expect us to raise this money with local tax levies. We cannot bear this burden alone. The recession is over. It's time for the state to resume its side of the fiscal partnership with local government. I intend to fight for the small communities in my district that have been left behind.
